This site runs on a Wiki, derived from Ward Cunningham's original lightweight collaborative systems, WikiWiki.
See KitchenTable for meta-discussion of how this site should work -- how it should be organized, administered, revised, and cultivated.
The best place to read about Wiki's is the book, TheWikiWay, by Ward Cunningham and Bo Leuf. You can get the book from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/020171499X/markbernsteinchi.
Most of this wiki was originally written in TinderBox, the EastgateSystems tool for making, analyzing, and sharing notes. While Tinderbox is usually considered a personal tool and Wiki a collaborative tool, the two work nicely together. Much of TheWikiWay discusses Wiki as a personal notebook, a task for which Tinderbox is superior; Tinderbox can then easily export material that can be shared in the Wiki. Later, it's easy to download the Wiki and add it again into Tinderbox. |
